The Berkeley Fiction Review is pleased to invite UC Berkeley students to submit their unsettling artwork for the October “Horrifying” Contest! We’re looking for art of any style that leaves our editors positively petrified. Send us your artwork, within the listed guidelines, for the chance to be featured in our upcoming issue and win a cash prize. 

In order to be considered, your submission must meet all listed criteria.

Eligibility

1. UC Berkeley students only
2. Only one submission per artist
3. Only original and previously unpublished artwork
4. $35 cash prize for first place, and $25 for others

Submission rules

1. Trim Size: 5.125 inches wide x 8 inches tall
2. Full Page art: 4.125 inches wide x 7 inches tall
3. Resolution: 300dpi / line drawings will need at least 1200dpi
4. Color: CMYK, full color available
5. Bleeds: No bleeds
6. File Format: JPEG / PNG / InDesign / Photoshop

How to submit

1. Email your artwork (in one of the above file formats) to berkeleyfictionreview@gmail.com 
2. Your email must include “October Art Contest Submission: Name, Title” in your email’s subject line

Review Process 

1. Our editors will judge all submissions
2. Contest winners will be announced in November
3. Selected artwork will be featured in our upcoming issue in May
